Down the Rabbit Hole
It can be hard sometimes to maintain the good and it can feel like a chore to look after yourself. And you know what – it’s not always happening! Even though I know better, I can have days that are filled with processed food, Netflix, a glass of wine and no movement or fresh air whatsoever. It goes without saying that it feels great in the moment, but there comes a time where I start feeling horrible. It leaves me feeling depleted, without energy and very little enthusiasm for the day ahead. All I want to do is go shopping, find distraction and dull my senses.
I’m sure there are people out there who don’t even know what’s the big deal. But for sensible souls like myself, it happens very quickly that those escapades lead you straight back to self-doubt. And then you not only fight the physical challenge of getting back on track, but you face your inner insecurities that you thought you’ve just left behind.
If you find yourself in a similar situation, I encourage you to give yourself a hug and speak kindly to yourself – like you’d do with a friend. When you find the strength to do something about it, try the following:
Eat real, nourishing food
Move your body
Go outside, surround yourself with nature
Find a moment of stillness, rest and breathe
And if possible, find something you can immerse yourself in, even for a moment and experience the joy of being in the flow
Just because your inner voice tells you stories about self-doubt and unworthiness it doesn’t mean that’s true. You are not your thoughts, or your feelings.
By practising awareness you start creating space and this will empower you to make a different choice. Once you’re ready, make a good one!
From my light to yours.
