Sending Out Sparks of Golden Light

During Savasana yesterday, after an intense practise of hot yoga, I was lying on the mat and felt how my whole body was alive with energy. Our yoga teacher led us on a visual journey of imagining a swirl of golden light nestled in the centre of our hips; with each inhale she asked us to bring expansion and lightness to our body, with each exhale we were to send sparks of this golden light into every corner of our being.

This visual really resonated with me. It felt healing, comforting, loving and nourishing. I not only imagined bringing ease to parts of my body that felt tense, but to create space and to bring a sense of care and gratefulness to everything that is me.

This winter season had brought with it old doubts of ‘am I enough’ and ‘am I worthy’ and it’s not always easy and straight forward to deal with those feelings in a constructive and positive way. So I’m grateful for my yoga practice, as it helps me to open up and connect more deeply with myself.

It was from this place of connection, that I was able to turn towards my heart and it’s struggles without judgement and to give it space with each inhale and fill it with light on each exhale.

It is so important to embrace who we are on all levels. And to meet these more complicated and challenging thoughts and feelings we have about ourselves. Feeling so alive and buzzing, I was able to not take them so personally, but instead meet them with a deeper sense of compassion and love. It felt like a moment of healing and it led to a greater sense of wholeness.

It was a real moment of joy for me. What moments of joy do you encounter on your journey of connection?
