“Finding joy and balance in your inner world, so that you can experience and radiate true happiness.”

On Connecting with Tanja, I share how to build and nurture ways of connecting to your body, mind and spirit, in the hope that you too may experience greater inner peace and freedom, a sense of wellbeing and belonging, more inner spaciousness and light and the ability to show up in this world feeling grounded, with compassion, loving-kindness and hope.

From my light to yours – Namaste

As long as I can remember, I have explored ways on how to connect with myself and the source of life within me.

Many times we look for things we need ‘out there’, but increasingly I understand that most of what we actually need can be found inside.

It is true that it takes courage to step away from the busyness of life and to allow yourself a moment of stillness, of self-reflection and awareness. Fear, worry and trauma are naturally building rings and rings of defence around our heart to protect ourselves from getting hurt.

But it doesn’t need much to create just a little bit more inner space. It’s not an all or nothing and you don’t have to put everything on the table. All that’s needed is a moment where you allow yourself to stop running. You can start simply by observing your breath, and noticing how your body moves on your inhale and exhale, anchoring your mind in the present moment while you do so. This already carries so much.

In a world that is constantly busy, and where it’s easy to find your next shot of comfort, it’s up to us to choose life, to get real and to make the decision that what we want is real life.

Time to Get Moving

Connecting to Your Body

All we ever do is think, think, think. We analyse the past and try to predict the future. It’s time to give our mind a break and let our bodies take centre stage. In yoga you can find a wide spectrum, from calm and restorative to energising and flowing.

What I love about practicing yoga is that it is full of benefits wherever you are on your journey. As soon as you step on the mat, it’s your time, your practise. Bring as much awareness as you can to each pose; feel into the sensations of your body, notice how your breath moves with you, how heat builds up and energy starts flowing.

Most poses come in different levels from beginner to advance, so choose what feels best for you and give yourself the gift of a body that feels alive!

Inner States of Being

In order to create more inner balance, we have to practice awareness first. Once we are able to notice certain patterns in our thoughts and behaviour, we can use curiosity and compassion to find the best way to navigate times that feel more difficult. This can be a first step towards a greater sense of worthiness and strengthen the belief that what is happening to you is not totally out of your control. By stepping back and taking on the role of the observer there is the opportunity to find love for yourself and not sink as deep as you did before.

How you feel and show up today, might be different from yesterday and from tomorrow.

Connecting to Your Spirit

Discovering your Inner Light

Many of us long for more spiritual connection, yet where to find it can be confusing. At the centre of my journey has always been a heart full of longing. Longing for real connection to the divine, for being filled with love, for a life that is real. It has led me to believe that all of us are part of the creation of life and all of us carry the light of life within us. The energy of life is all around us and as such we’re all connected.

And this light, my ‘own’ light doesn’t belong to me but has been given to me and is sacred and with every breath I take this gift continues, and it’s up to me to let it shine, in whatever way I want to interact with it, and be as removed or as close to it as I choose.

This light is at the centre of my heart and with it my breath and also love. And it’s where I find space, freedom, a sense of wellbeing, belonging and hope.

It’s not affected by who I am or what I do, but my behaviour does affect how easily I can access this place. You can’t bring your armour; only yourself. But again, you can start small. Find a little opening, a little bit of softness, a little bit of stillness. And in that small, even tiny space connection can happen! You don’t have to put all your armour down, just a little bit. And then see what happens. Whatever your background or cultural ties, let’s explore ways on how to come back to your heart centre. Experience how your inner world will open up – like a blue summer’s sky!

As far as religion goes, I believe in the heart that knows worship, for whom can measure the benefits that come if you allow faith to touch, change and reside in your heart?
